Editorial policy
Visa decisions are high stakes. Our guides follow these rules.
Sources first
Every fee, processing time, rule and statistic on this site comes from a named source, shown next to the figure with the date we last checked it. We prefer primary sources: GOV.UK, the US Department of State and US Mission India, the European Commission and the EU Visa Code, and the official websites of each consulate. When we rely on reporting of official statistics, we say so. See our sources.
No guesses presented as facts
If we cannot verify something, we do not publish it as a fact. Where practice varies by consulate, we say that it varies. Our own rules of thumb, such as the balance multiple in our calculator, are labelled as ours.
Review and freshness
Each guide shows a "last verified" date. We recheck fees and rules when the authorities announce changes, and we review every guide at least quarterly. Wait times are refreshed from the official table.
Independence
We do not accept payment from embassies, visa centres or other providers to change what we write. If we ever link to a partner service, we will label it.
How we use automation
We use software to monitor official pages for changes and to help draft and check content. Every published page is reviewed by a person against its sources before it goes live.
